Building

Established by the actor Michael J. Fox in 2000, the Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease through aggressively funded research, and to ensuring the development of better therapies for those living with the disease.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation forParkinson’s Research
At The Michael J. Fox Foundation in New York, Brian Fiske heads a research team working to uncover new insights into Parkinson’s disease. The degenerative neurological disorder strikes one in every 100 people over the age of 60. As Parkinson’s has no clear biomarker, geneticists and neuroscientists like Fiske rely on collaborative tools and shared data to further their understanding of the disease. The MetaCore™ database is foundational to exploration of LRRK2—a promising effort in their search for a cure. Fiske and his colleagues are building hope for a future free from Parkinson’s.

Parkinson’s disease researchers study the brain as part of their work to develop new treatments for Parkinson’s, including cell replacement therapy.

A researcher at the City College of New York fills test tubes in the College’s lab. She is among the recipients of the more than $275 million in Parkinson’s research funding that the Foundation has awarded to date.

Brian Fiske, who earned his doctoral degree in neuroscience, leads the research programs team at the Foundation. The team works to identify and pursue the most promising approaches to treating Parkinson’s disease.
